About The Project
Track monitoring was required during directional drilling on the Kingston subdivision, Mi. 313.05 (near Pickering GO station).
Targets were installed on 3 rails in accordance with the position of the drilling. Points were monitored before drilling to establish the baseline, during drilling, and after drilling to ensure the integrity of the track structure. Groma’s surveyor also returned to site following the next major rain event to check for any movement.
Services Provided
Track Monitoring
When construction takes place in the immediate vicinity of a rail line, monitoring of track movement is required to ensure that the construction will not impact safe use of the rails. We can install metal pins at the centreline of the rail, and/or targets which are glued onto the track or other items nearby. Using total station, we will survey a baseline of the pin/target coordinates before construction. During construction, we will survey the pins/targets on a schedule decided by the client, and calculate movement from the baseline in a daily Excel table.
